Marine painting and sand blasting operations are increasingly attracting attention from marina managements, local municipal council authorities and the Environmental Protection Agency, due to the paint and blast residual damage resulting from open unprotected work environments.
Our Shelter Solutions are infinitely variable. They can be high and wide enough to accept the travel lift and the vessel. They can be telescoped to allow the vessel to be placed in the required position, then pulled out to cover the area completely.
Shelters can be made completely portable by being fitted to tracks, which have an additional advantage of allowing work on smaller vessels with the cover extending out only the distance required. Alternatively, rubber wheels in 'C' section channel can be used, enabling it to be wheeled to different vessels anywhere on site.
Another option is crane liftable to any position required, with special plates incorporated into the base to take weights along each side to hold it down until work is completed. This is very advantageous on a large rambling site, where it is not possible to lay down tracks.
The ends can be sealed or winched up to allow boat access from either end. The sides can be rolled up to approximately two metres to provide easy access and additional ventilation, before the environmentally polluting tasks begin, when they would be rolled down to secure the facility.
There are side 'man' doors for easy access when sealed up for operations.
Ventilation and air scrubbing equipment can be added effectively.
The shelters are easily and quickly constructed. An 11m wide, 10m high by 24m long unit on wheels can be assembled by one supervisor with about 5 assistants in from 5 to 7 days, with no special skills required and only general tools, a small truck crane and a scissor lift. Should you require special assistance, a manufacturers supervisor can be supplied at extra cost.
When properly constructed, the units have withstood in excess of 100 kph winds. They can be constructed to withstand over 200 kph storms, though it would be easier to release the cover on one side, drop it down the other side, roll it up securely until after the storm has subsided, then reattach it. They also can withstand hail the size of baseballs.
There are 4 different colours available, White, Grey, Green and Beige, and four different thicknesses. The covers are heavy duty. The basic gauge is 18 oz. and has a 5 year Warranty, but has a life expectancy of in excess of 10 years when properly cared for.
The frame is heavy duty galvanised steel tubing and each rib is a truss. They are all attached to a base frame which also enables it to be moved by crane.
The cost of these shelters more than compares with steel structures on price, versatility and construction time, and are visually more appealing.
The sizes can be supplied to suit almost any need, the maximum width being 50m, height 20m and as long as you require, in either one length or several telescoping units. A level site is preferable, but some variations can be accommodated.
