Helicopter high maintenance to flying ratio is legendary. Much time has to be spent just to keep those flying bricks in the air. Just kidding (it was not until I read Robert Mason's best seller, Chickenhawk that my ignorance was dispelled). But I digress.
This downtime can be greatly reduced if work can be carried out undercover, out of the elements 24/7, with all tools and power within easy reach. Just being undercover will reduce wear and tear on paintwork, upholstery and avionics. At the same time allowing you to carry out, urgent and essential maintenance during the dark hours, when flying is not an issue, thereby maximizing usable flying hours and increasing your bottom line.
Here is a viable solution to all the negatives of building a conventional hangar on someone else's land. A totally portable, easily relocatable hangar, either for a single aircraft operator or a private owner, on an airfield or a property. Ideal for rescue and news vehicles, survey or photographic choppers on large mining sites, as well as aero clubs, hangaring many small planes. Larger operators of both helicopter and fixed wing craft with twin engines, jet or propeller driven, can also benefit from this concept.
Shelters can be put down directly onto the airfield with no more foundation requirements than leveling the footprint area. If you only require a shade facility the units are available without ends and with the roof fabric terminating about 2m from the ground. One fixed end is available with an opening door the other end, using a 3 zippered door, and there is a winched up door.
Alternatively you can build conventional sliding hangar door frame across the end giving total access. The sides can be supplied with a roll up section, up to 2m from the ground level. The options are totally variable giving you complete flexibiity of your requirements. If you need to move somewhere else on the same field, just remove the anchors, relocate the hangar then refix the anchors. If your hangar is crane liftable, the move will be even quicker.
These shelters are made of double dipped galvanised tubular seel trusses, with a UV protected fabric cover, that will withstand winds of around 140kph, and hail the size of baseballs. With normal care and maintenance a 20 plus year life expectancy can be envisioned.
